2020 Oregon Secretary of State election

The 2020 Oregon Secretary of State election will be held on November 3, 2020, to elect the Oregon Secretary of State, the highest office in the state after the Governor. Incumbent Republican Bev Clarno has agreed not to run for reelection.[1] Clarno was appointed by Governor Kate Brown to replace Dennis Richardson, who died of cancer during his term.[2][3] Richardson's election was considered a surprise as a Republican had not been elected to statewide office since 2002, and Oregon had not had a Republican Secretary of State since 1985. This election is therefore important as it will show whether or not the Republicans, who are a super minority in the state legislature, can keep a statewide office.
