The 2018 Oklahoma gubernatorial election will take place on November 6, 2018, to elect the next Governor of Oklahoma. Incumbent Republican Governor Mary Fallin is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third consecutive term. Primary elections occurred on June 26, 2018, with primary runoff elections having occurred on August 28, 2018.[1] The Democratic Party nominated former Attorney General of Oklahoma Drew Edmondson. The Republican primary advanced to a runoff between former Oklahoma City mayor Mick Cornett and businessman Kevin Stitt. On August 28, 2018, Kevin Stitt won the Republican primary runoff and became the Republican nominee for governor. The Libertarian primary also advanced to a runoff, with former OKLP chair Chris Powell winning the nomination. This is the first time the Libertarian Party has been on the ballot to participate in a gubernatorial election in Oklahoma.[2]
