Zongo is an impact crater just north of Argyre basin in the Argyre quadrangle of Mars, located at 33.76°S and 41.69°W and is not far from Hale's northwestern irregular rim. It is 46.83 km in diameter and was named after Zongo, a town now in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The name was approved in 1979 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN).[1]
Nearby named craters include Bond to the east, the smaller Alitus and the larger Hale to the east-southeast, Moanda almost to the south and Magadi nearly to the west.
