Mendel is the name of a crater in Terra Cimmeria, Mars. It is located at -58.8°N, 161.0°E and was named in honor of Gregor Mendel, the father of genetics.[1]
Mendel is south of the crater Campbell, east is the 180th meridian, nearly east is Chronius Mons, to the south are Ulyxis Rupes and Jeans crater and west is Planum Chronium
