Haldane is an impact crater in the Eridania quadrangle of Mars, located at 53.1°S and 230.9°W, and is in the area dividing Promethei Terra and Terra Cimmeria. It is 78.7 km in diameter and was named after J. B. S. Haldane, and the name was approved in 1973 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN).[1]
Nearby craters include Priestley over half a crater diameter south-southeast, Alexey Tolstoy to the north-northwest, the large Kepler to the northeast, Wells to the south-southwest and Wallace to the west. To the southeast are other geographical features including the scarp, the Eridania Scopulus, Chronium Planum and Eridania Mons.
