Atlantis Chaos is a region of chaos terrain in the Phaethontis quadrangle of Mars. It is located around 34.7° south latitude, and 177.6° west longitude. It is encompassed by the Atlantis basin. The region is 162 kilometers (101 mi) across, and was named after an albedo feature at 30° S, 173° W.[1]
Not far to the northeast of the chaos terrain is the Magelhaens Crater, at a distance of half a diameter to the east is the Gorgonum Chaos, to the south is Simois Colles, southwest is Caralis Colles, further west is Ariadne Colles and further northwest is Ma'adim Vallis. Due north of the chaos terrain is the small crater named Kibuye. Not far to the western edge is the 180th meridian.
