Grand Prospect Hall

Grand Prospect Hall is a large Victorian banquet hall in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York. Local entrepreneur John Kolle built this ornate palace in 1892. Kolle hired a young architect, Ulrich J. Huberty, creator of Prospect Park's Boathouse on the Lullwater, tennis house, and Litchfield Villa. It is a four-story building faced in buff-gray brick in the French Renaissance style. It features pressed metal decoration originally painted in imitation of limestone.[2]

Michael and Alice Halkias bought the hall in 1981.[3] Starting in 1986, the pair gained a measure of fame from starring in a series of cheaply shot commercials airing 20 times a day on local TV.[4] In 2019, Saturday Night Live aired a parody of these ads during their 44th season.[5][6]

The Hall is available as a filming location and has been used in The Cotton Club, Prizzi’s Honor, and The Royal Tenenbaums.[7]

The Grand Prospect Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.[1]
