Girish Park is a neighbourhood of central Kolkata in Kolkata district in the Indian state of West Bengal.
Geography
Police district
Girish Park police station is part of the Central division of Kolkata Police. Located at 138, Ram Dulal Sarkar Street, Kolkata-700006, it has jurisdiction over the police district which is bordered on the north from the north east corner of the junction of Rabindra Sarani (old Upper Chitpur Road) and Ramesh Dutta Street, thence eastward along the northern limit of Ramesh Dutta Street up to the north-west corner of the junction of Ramesh Dutta Street and Chittaranjan Avenue
thence crossing Chittaranjan Avenue eastward up to the north-east corner of the junction of the Chittaranjan Avenue and Ramdulal Sarkar Street and thence eastward along the northern limit of Ramdulal Sarkar Street up to the northwest corner of the junction of Ramdulal Sarkar Street and Bidhan Sarani (old Cornwallis Street), thence crossing Bidhan Sarani up to the north-east corner of the junction of the Ramdulal Sarkar Street and Bidhan Sarani; on the east from the north-east corner of the junction of Ramdulal Sarkar Street (old Manicktala Street) and Bidhan Sarani (old Cornwallis Street), thence southward along the eastern limit of Bidhan Sarani up to the north-east corner of the junction of Muktaram Babu Street and Bidhan Sarani; on the south from the north-east corner of the junction of Muktaram Babu Street and Bidhan Sarani (old Cornwallis Street), thence crossing Bidhan Sarani (old Cornwallis Street) westward to the north west corner of the junction of Muktaram Babu Street and Bidhan Sarani (old Cornwallis Street ) thence westward along the northern limit of Muktaram Babu Street up to the north-east corner of the junction of Muktaram Babu Street and Chittaranjan Avenue thence crossing Chittaranjan Avenue up to the north-west corner of the junction of Muktaram Babu Street and Chittaranjan Avenue thence westward along the northern limit of Muktaram Babu Street up to the north-east corner of the junction of Muktaram Babu Street and Rabindra Sarani (old Upper Chitpur Road); and on the west From the north-east corner of the junction of Muktaram Babu Street and Rabindra Sarani (old Upper Chitpur Road), thence northward along the eastern limit of Rabindra Sarani to Ramesh Dutta Street, thence crossing Ramesh Dutta Street northward up to the north-east corner of the junction of Rabindra Sarani and Ramesh Dutta Street.[1]

Flyover collapse
In the Vivekananda flyover collapse, when a portion of the under-construction flyover collapsed in the Girish Park neighbourhood on 31 March 2016, 81 persons were killed and 205 injured.[2][3]
