Sahawar formerly known as "Sukh Chain Nagri & Sahabon ki Nagri" is a town and a nagar panchayat, as well as Tehsil in Kasganj district in the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh. Previously, it was part of district Etah.

Geography

Sahawar is located at 27°48′N 78°51′E / 27.8°N 78.85°E / 27.8; 78.85.[1] It has an average elevation of 176 metres (577 feet). Sahawar is a co-community town. Here is 700 years older Jama Masjid along with Dargah named Mamu Bhanje and Famous Lord Radha Krishna Temple located in the city. Most popular trade in town is Home made Churna. Sahawar Town is second railway station en route Kasganj to Kanpur. The famous temples are Shri Maa Gamaa Devi Temple, Devi Durga (Badi Mata) Temple, Shivalaya Temple and famous Dargahs are Ramzan Shah Baba, Sufi Shah. Sahawar, Surround s 100 km away from the cities Bareilly, Mathura, Agra, Aligarh, Mainpuri and almost 250 km From National Capital New Delhi & State Capital Lucknow. It is 12 km away from famous religious town Soron the birth Palace of Tulsi das Lord Barah and 20 km from Mahabharata State & Birth Palace of Hz.Ameer Khushro Patiyali.

Politics

The current chairman of Sahawar town is Ms. Zahida Sultan, daughter of Ex-MP late Musheer Ahmad Khan. Zahida Sultan won the elections and has taken over as the Chairman on 1 December 2017.

Education

There are two degree colleges for higher education- Sir M U Degree College and Dr Rishikant Siddhartha Mahavidyalaya. The colleges have B.A, B.Sc, B.Ed and other courses. Demographics

As of 2011 India census,[2] Sahawar had a population of 24,457. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Sahawar has an average literacy rate of 66%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 42%, and female literacy is 28%. In Sahawar, 19% of the population is under 6 years of age.
