It is linked to Phaphund railway station on Kanpur-Delhi section of Howrah-Delhi main line which is operated by North Central Railway. The district administrative headquarter of the town is Auraiya.

Petrochemical plant established here employs employees in thousands and live in GAIL Gaon, a small village specially for GAIL employees.GAIL has also established a compressor station near GAIL Gaon a Gas Plant near that one more residential society of GAIL is established GAIL Vihar just as same as GAIL GAON, a small, well-facilitated colony for the Gail employees working in GAIL compressor station. A residential township is also built for NTPC employees. The town has a big market named Kakrahi Baazar on the main road.
