It is linked to Phaphund railway station on Kanpur-Delhi section of Howrah-Delhi main line which is operated by North Central Railway. The district administrative headquarter of the town is Auraiya.

It is served by Phaphund railway station which is on Kanpur-Delhi section of Howrah-Delhi main line opereted by North Central Railway at a distance 82 kilometer from Kanpur Central railway station and 148 km from Tundla Junction.

Petrochemical plant established here employs employees in thousands and live in GAIL Gaon, a small village specially for GAIL employees.GAIL has also established a compressor station near GAIL Gaon a Gas Plant near that one more residential society of GAIL is established GAIL Vihar just as same as GAIL GAON, a small, well-facilitated colony for the Gail employees working in GAIL compressor station. A residential township is also built for NTPC employees. The town has a big market named Kakrahi Baazar on the main road.
