There are approximately 1100 genera of native and naturalized vascular plants found growing outside of cultivation in New York and shown in this book.
The genus and supergeneric names in the following table link to the Flora of New York sections containing the plant information. The taxa column shows the approximate number of accepted species, subspecies and varieties of the corresponding genus that have been reported in New York. There is a total of about 3900 separate taxa in the book. This table is sortable alphabetically (numerically for the taxa column) by clicking on the table headings. The default sequence is the order in which the plants are presented in the book. To return to that sequence, reload the page. A genus shown with a taxon count in parentheses contains taxa that are treated here as synonyms of taxa in the genus to which it links. These synonyms are included here when they may be of interest for various reasons, such as recent, disputed, or not-fully-accepted transfers of a species from one genus to another. |
