        Coreopsis

        Coreopsis rosea
        pink coreopsis
Most of the naturalized Coreopsis plants found in New York are probably escaped ornamentals, native to the southern and midwestern parts of the United States. The exception is Coreopsis rosea, a rare Atlantic-coastal-plain endemic, which may also be found as a garden escape on Long Island and perhaps elsewhere in the state.

                              Rudbeckia

Rudbeckia is a North American genus and very commomly found in New York, but only a few of its taxa are considered to be truly native to the state. Rudbeckia is here separated into the sections described by the Flora of North America.[1]

According to the New York Flora Atlas, among the Rudbeckia species, only R. laciniata var. laciniata is fully native to New York. However, R. triloba var. triloba is thought to be native in an unspecified part of the state, and introduced elsewhere.

The most common true New York native Rudbeckia species is Rudbeckia laciniata, the cut-leaved coneflower or green-headed coneflower.
