Sithalapakkam is a Residential locality of south Chennai, India. It is about 3 km away from Medavakkam. Sithalapakkam is surrounded by two lakes and a hill. Some portion of this hill is cutout for sand and stone. Wild birds can be seen at Sithalapakkam. Though some buildings have erupted in the region, most of Sithalapakkam has no tar or concrete roads making it difficult to navigate in rainy season.
It is often confused with Chitlapakkam (Tamil: சிட்லப்பாக்கம்), which is an older neighbourhood, more established and more closer to Tambaram.
Religion
Sithalapakkam has a secular religious mix. Hindus, Muslims and Christians live together. Hindus are more in number than Muslims who are slightly more than Christians.
The Kaliamman Koil organizes festival during Tamil month of Aadi. People surrounding Karanai, puthupakkam, navallur, sithalapakkam frequent the temple every Friday. The pond and 100-year-old banyan tree are located near the temple. Other popular temples include Mariamman temple, Near 200 year old Sri Thandu Thulukanathamman koil and Matha Ganga Devi koil, Nagathammam (putru) kovil back side of mani kadai bus stop which is celebrating thimithi every aadi month 4th week sunday. SankaraVinayagar Kovil, Parasi amman temple, Kanni ammam Koil, Sreedevi and Bhoodevi temple( Near Bharat petrol bunk). Sithalapakkam has a Mosque in Indira Naagar. Indira nagar has few Muslim community.
For Christians
St. Antony's Church
The Roman Catholic church which has major Christian families built up with a wider space.[1] is located in ArasanKazhani - Ottiyambakkam main road, Sithalapakkam. Religious people gather here in large numbers on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sunday. Parish Priest :Rev.Fr.George Victor(2012 onwards) Especially on every first Tuesday of the month, special car procession, novena,special mass, adoration are organized. Mass Timings: Weekdays(Monday to Saturday): 6.15am, Tuesday:6.30pm,Sunday: 8.15am

Parks
Though Sithalapakkam is migrated with many middle-class people from various part of city, it has no children parks. They depend on medavakkam or perumbakkam (sowmyanagar park) for playing. There is a park in Venus colony but it is filled with animal waste and dirt.
