Kadambathur (Tamil: கடம்பத்தூர்) also spelt Kadambattur is a suburb of Chennai located in Tiruvallur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a census town in Tiruvallur taluk. Once it was a MLA constuency during the 1960s . MLA Egambaram and MLA Arunachalam were elected from here during C.N.Annadurai was CM of Tamil Nadu.The town had a population of 11,235 in censu 2011. Few years back agriculture was the major occupation in this town. Now almost all the agriculture land is converted into residential plots and factories.

Hindustan Motors (Caterpillar), Chennai car plant (Mitsubishi), Delphi TVS and Hyundai Mobis India are the companies located in and around Kadambathur.

Proposed Greenfield airport is partially planned in Kadambathur block.

Kadambathur town comprises three main area Kadambathur, Venmanabudhur and Kasavanalathur.

The Kadambathur block is a revenue block in the Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu, India. It has a total of 43 panchayat villages.

Connectivity

The town is in between Tiruvallur and Arakkonam, and the neighbourhood is served by the Kadambattur railway station of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. Kadambathur is also connected with the city (Vadapalani) by MTC bus no. "538" and also connected to other neighbourhoods by moffusil buses.

Private buses like Vasantha, Bharathi, Balaji, Sundaram, Srinivasa and Southeran transports operates from here to different locations like Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Uththukottai, Ponneri, Uthiramerur, Thiruvalangadu and Mappedu.

Government bus routes 160, 160B, T2, 162, 538 and 519 operates from here to Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Sunguvarchatiram, ponnamallee and Vadapalani.

The major transportation of Kadambathur is Railways. It is located in Chennai - Arakkonam suburban railway route. It is very close to Chennai central almost 45 mins travel. This town is connected with Chennai Central, Chennai Beach, Velachery, Avadi, Ambattur, Tiruvallur, Arakkonam, Thiruthani, Thirupathi and Bengaluru by suburban and passenger trains.

Kadambathur located on the Thiruvallur - Kancheepuram main district road (MDR) surrounded by already developed residential areas of Agaram & Kasavanallathur Village and Venmanambathur villages of Kadambathur Panchayat, Thiruvallur Taluk & District.

It is also strategically located between Chennai-Bangalore NH4 (14 km) and Chennai-Thirupathi NH 205 (4 km). It is ideally located about 50 km from Chennai Koyambedu circle (60 Min drive), 7 km from Thiruvallur and just 5 km from Tiruvallur collectors office.The Chennai - Arakkonam Suburban train service provides excellent connectivity (40 Min travel from Chennai Central). Located very near to chennai approx 45 km from chennai Central railway station(40 min travel).
