Thervoy Kandigai

Thervoy Kandigai is a village in Tiruvallur District in Tamil Nadu state of India. It has about 5000 inhabitants, mainly being part of Scheduled Tribes and/or Dalit.[1] The village is about 50 km North of Chennai. [2] Michelin intends to build a tyre factory in Thervoy Kandigai. [3] It is planned, that the factory will start to operate in November 2012. [4]

It is thought, that there are going to be 1500 jobs.[5] The first building has been opened officially in May 2011.[6]

A Thervoy Kandigai Industrial Park exists.[7]

Michelin has invested 40 billions there.[8]

The factory endangers the rainforests being the livelihood of the population. [9]
