Kachhwa is a village and a nagar panchayat in Mirzapur district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Geography

Kachhwa is located at 25°13′N 82°43′E / 25.22°N 82.72°E / 25.22; 82.72.[1] It has an average elevation of 84 metres (275 feet). It is around 30 km. away from Varanasi Cantt.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Kachhwa had a population of 14,712. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Kachhwa has an average literacy rate of 57%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 66%, and female literacy is 46%. In Kachhwa, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.

This place also known as for Maharishi Kashyap Ashram because this land is birth of nature and also known for birthplace of every kinds of human beings of earth . Maharishi Kashyap is the son of Marichi and grand son of lord Brahma. Maharishi Kashyap also known as Saptrishi. Maharishi Kashyap married 13 daughters of Daksha Prajapati and create with also a wonderful nature. Everyone does not know Maharishi Kashyap gifted us life he is god father of nature and it is located in Kachhwa and anicient name of the kachhawa is 'Kashyappuri' or Kashyapnagari. Present time the Kund of Maharishi Kashyap also present in Kachhwa Dih which located from 500 m in mid of Kachhwa. Kachhwa is the birthplace of nature which includes everything presents in nature i.e.( Dev,danav,manav,pashu pakshi,ped paudhe,etc.)but no one knows this history. One things Kachhwa is avatar Or birthplace of lord Baman (Vishnu) because Lord Baman is the son of Maharishi Kashyap and Aditi. Another very prominent figure of this town area is the Moochwale hanuman ji whose 8 feet high whole stone sculptured idol is unique throughout the country for having moustaches and at his feet Lord Shani Dev can be seen lying down. This mudra or pose is found nowhere else. Pt. Chandra Shekhar Mishra Vyas ji was his devotee who organised Hanuman Jayanti and Ramcharitmanas Sammelan annually to mark his birth in Kartik month where many good speakers and devotees all around the nation gather in Kachhwa. Pt Ramkinkar ji who was called as yug tulsi was from this holy land too. His birthplace is in Baraini village within Kachhwa. He was a very well known Ramkatha Speaker and writer.There is a school after his name in kachhwa.

This place is also known for Kachhwa Christian hospital, which was set by Christian missionary Dr Neville Everad to provide medical care to the nearby town.

Another relatively newer landmark institution is the Kachhwa Christian School, a CBSE school run by ACTS Ministries.

Today a NGO work for this to know about history of Kashyappuri that's name Kashyappuri Vikas Samity which present in Facebook. A page "Kachhwa ek aadarsh" has been started to update the annual darshans to devotees in kartik month.
