Gopalnagar is a village and a gram panchayat in Bangaon CD Block in Bangaon subdivision of North 24 Parganas district in the state of West Bengal, India.

Police station

Gopalnagar police station covers an area of 169 km2 and serves a population of 380,793. It has jurisdiction over Bangaon CD Block.[1]

Demographics

As per the 2011 Census of India, Gopalnagar had a total population of 2,174, of which 1,106 (51%) were males and 1,068 (49%) were females. Population below 6 years was 199. The total number of literates in Gopalnagar was 1,688 (85.47% of the population over 6 years).[2]

Education

Gopalnagar Haripada Institution is a co-educational school with arrangements for teaching from class V to XII. The renowned author Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay had taught in this school.[5][6][7]

Gopalnagar Giribala Balika Vidyalaya is a girls only higher secondary school.[7]
