- A Nação newspaper begins publication
- The Bank of Cape Verde redesigned the 500 and 100 escudo notes[1]
- Cape Verde signed two UN conventions, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance
- February 7: Cape Verdean Prime Minister visited the Rabelados community in Espinho Branco and some other settlements[2]
- March: Santo Antão's only airport (or airfield) near the center of Ponta do Sol Agostinho Neto Airport shut down due to high winds
- June 22 - Winds crossed west with the Saharan dust passing through Cape Verde and south and southwest of the islands
- November: Rabil Airport (now Aristides Pereira International Airport) became enlarged with a 2,100 meter runway and paved.[3]
