  • Living conditions improved in Mindelo as some aid were brought by Cape Verdean emigrants from the United States and Europe, later it was brought to the rest of the archipelago
  • Restoration works for Fort Real de São Filipe on Santiago Island began
  • April 13: A Total lunar eclipse took place and was mainly visible, it started at around 1:30 and finished at around 6:00 before sunrise[1]
  • September 1: The cargo ship Cabo Santa Maria was wrecked and ran aground at Praia de Atalanta in the north of the island, its ruins now rusty can still be seen today.[2]
