- May 4: A Penumbral lunar eclipse took place and was mainly visible, it started around sunset and finished around 22:00[1]
- May 20: an annular solar eclipse took place it started before sunrise in the east and after sunset in parts of Santo Antão and the southwestern part. It showed from about 67% (in Santo Antão) to about 76% (in Santiago) obscuration of the sun.[2]

- Winter:
- CS Mindelense won their 21st regional title for São Vicente
- CD Travadores won their regional title for Santiago
- CS Mindelense won their fifth colonial title for the Cape Verdean Football Championships[3]
- March 9: the first of two legs of the third round Portuguese Cup match was played in Mindelo where Mindelense lost to Madeira's C.S. Marítimo
- December 1: Académico do Aeroporto football (soccer) club established
