Zhengzhou Metro (Chinese: 郑州地铁) is a rapid transit rail network serving urban and suburban districts of Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan province. It is the first and currently the only operational metro system in Henan.
History
The first phase of the system, including Line 1 and Line 2, was approved by National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in February 2009.[4][5] Construction of Line 1 started on 6 June 2009[6] and Line 2 started construction on 28 December 2010.[7] As planned, Line 1 and Line 2 commenced operations on 26 December 2013 and 19 August 2016 respectively.
On January 12, 2017, Chengjiao line started operation. It is in through services with Line 2 and allows the system to serve the Xinzheng International Airport.[8]

Line 1
Line 1, is a west-east line with a total length of 34.84 kilometres (21.65 mi), starting from Henan University of Technology and ending in New Campus of Henan University. CSR Zhuzhou supplied six-car Type B metro trains for Line 1 under a contract signed in January 2011.[3] The first phase, 26.34 kilometres (16.37 mi) long with 20 stations, is entirely underground and was opened in 2013.[9] In January 12, 2017 an eastern and western extension was opened adding 15.01 km and 9 stations to the line.[8]
Line 2
Line 2, a north-south line with a total length of 27.30 kilometres (16.96 mi), starting from Tianshanlu in Huiji District and ending in Nansihuan, with 22 stations.[7] The first phase of Line 2 (Liuzhuang-Nansihuan), 19.05 kilometres (11.84 mi) (17.25 kilometres (10.72 mi) underground) long with 16 stations, was opened on 19 August 2016.[10] [11] The second phase (north extension, from Liuzhuang to Tianshanlu) is under construction.
Chengjiao line
Chengjiao line is a suburban metro line with a total length of 31.7 kilometres (19.7 mi), starting from Nansihuan in Guancheng and ending in Xinzheng International Airport, with 14 stations (11 operational now).[8]This line was opened on January 12, 2017.[12] It is in through services with Line 2 now. According to the plan, it will be operated as a part of Line 9 in the future.

Currently, 9 lines are under construction, including Line 2 (Phase II),[13] Line 3 (Phase I),[14] Line 4,[15] Line 5,[16] Line 6, Line 10 (Phase I, also known as Zhenggong line), Line 14, Line 17 (also known as Zhengxu line) and Chengjiao line (Phase II)[17]
