Mount Edgecombe is a gated community in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, situated just north of Durban, which forms part of eThekwini, the Greater Durban Metropolitan. It is famous for resorts and golf. It includes a retirement home for the elderly of Durban. It was previously a sugar growing area. The population increased 89% between 2001 and 2011 from 3,874 to 7,323.[2][3]

Its name is derived from the Earl of Mount Edgecombe in Cornwall, United Kingdom.

The estate boasts two average golf courses. On hole 18 on course 2, there is a theory that it has magical powers as lost balls are often found. One golfer was heard to have said ‘that ball has killed a kid” after hitting it 50 meters out of bounds into a house, he then did the same again, this time his shot was 100m out of bounds, yet strangely, both balls were found on the fairway. This will never be solved. The Mount Edgecombe Area is the most sought after area in the Greater Durban Metro.
