Line 1 of the Dongguan Rail Transit, formerly known as Line R1 (simplified Chinese: 东莞R1线); traditional Chinese: 東莞R1線), is an under construction subway line in Dongguan, Guangdong. It has a planned 26 stations and connect Huangpu Ferry Terminal in the North, to Cuihu in the south The line will eventually connect Guangzhou Metro Line 5 with Shenzhen Metro Line 6 via Dongguan. This will allow the Foshan, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen and Hong Kong rapid transit networks together. The first section of the first phase from Cuihu to Wuhan University in Shenzhen started construction in 2018.[1] The central section of Line 1 in Dongguan between Wuhan University and Wanghong Railway Station will start construction in September 2018.[2] The west section between Wangjiang Coach Terminal and Huangpu Ferry Terminal has no published timeline.
