Pithoragarh Airport also Known as Naini Saini Airport is located in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, India. The airstrip was constructed in 1991 for administrative use and planned for the operations of Dornier 228 type aircraft. The State Government plans to upgrade it to Category 2C airport under Visual flight rules (VFR) conditions to facilitate operations of ATR-42 type of aircraft. It is located 4.5 Kilometers from Pithoragarh Town.
Naini Saini airport has been a matter of great unrest from public side because of political instability. During last assembly elections, free service from Pithoragarh to Dehradun was enabled but as the elections were over, the service came to halt. Due to the horrendous political aspirations, it is a suspended project.
