Transportation Committee (Georgia Senate)

The Senate Transportation Committee is a 12–member legislative body consisting of a chairman, a vice-chairman, a secretary, two ex-officios, and seven members. The Committee operates under a Senate mandate to regulate matters of highway safety and intrastate use of state–maintained infrastructure by common carriers.[1]

Scope and jurisdiction

The Senate Transportation Committee is responsible for legislation relating to "highway safety, regulation of intrastate common carriers, including railroads, buses, trucks, vessels, pipelines, and civil aviation." The Committee also has jurisdiction over inland waterways and any other means of conveyance that facilitates transportation into or out of the State of Georgia.[1]
