Roots School System (abbreviated as RSS) is an independent Pakistani for-profit education company founded in 1988 by Mrs. Riffat Mushtaq. The school is operating more than 50 campuses in more than 20 cities of Pakistan. It now has 3 subsidiaries school systems each being run by a member of the Mushtaq family.[1][2]

History

Roots School System was founded in 1988 by Mrs. Riffat Mushtaq by establishing its first International Montessori school in the city of Rawalpindi. The school was established on 10th April 1988 at 74 Harley Street in Rawalpindi. Previously, Mrs. Riffat Mushtaq was a teacher, and had the experience of teaching students of different ethnicities in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Her children Khadija Mushtaq, Faisal Mushtaq and Walid Mushtaq are members of the board of directors and are working separately on their respected subsidiary of the school system.[3]

Subsidiaries

Roots Ivy International Schools is a for-profit school and university college affiliated with University of London International Programmes and the BPP University.[4] Khadija Mushtaq is its founder and dean.[5] It is part of Roots School System, a for-profit company in Pakistan.[6]

Roots Millennium Schools is a part of Roots School System founded in 1988 by Mrs. Riffat Mushtaq. Roots millennium schools is established by her son Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq and is operating campuses in 20 cities of Pakistan.[7][8]

Roots International Schools (abbreviated as RIS) is an independent Pakistani for-profit education company which is part of Roots School System founded in 1988 by Mrs. Riffat Mushtaq. Roots International schools is established by her son Walid Mushtaq and is operating 35 campuses in 19 cities of Pakistan.[9][10]

Awards & recognition

  • It was awarded with 'Brands of the Year Award 2011 - 2012' for excellence in education sector in Pakistan.[11][12]
  • CEO of Roots millennium schools Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq was awarded in China in year 2012 for his commitment towards Mandarin teaching in Pakistan.[13]
  • Winner of National 8th Annual Environmental Award in 2011 by United Nations Environment Program.[14]
  • It has been granted a status of ‘Mentor Schools’ by Microsoft for its teaching standard and student centred approach.[15]
  • Winner of 2nd Global Human Resource Excellence Award in year 2011.[16]
  • It was ranked among 100 fastest growing organizations in Pakistan in year 2012.[17]
