The 2016–17 Boavista Praia season were in the island division of football (soccer).^[1] The club finished second behind almighty Sporting Praia.

The club scored 48 goals and had 16 wins, 3 ties, 3 losses and 51 points, their goal scoring, points and wins have become club records.

The 2016-17 season would have a nearly good start starting at fifth place. Their first match was on November 4, the first held in the earliest part of November. The club defeated what was one of the major rival Vitória 1-0, a draw with Os Garridos was followed which was also Boavista's first away draw, fifth place was their position, it soared to their fourth after a win over Travadores in the third round,^[2] the club's first loss of the season was followed to ADESBA. On December 10, Boavista had a two match winning streak and defeated Celtic of Achadina de Baixo and Desportivo Praia where they made the season's first win away, each with three goals that made up the club's highest scoring matches numbering three for about two months.^[3] On January 8, Boavista's second loss was made to Académica 1-0. Later, Boavista defeated Eugénio Lima 1-3.^[4] Boavista's third and final loss was made to their rival Sporting 1-2 on January 27. On a rescheduled match on February 1, Boavista defeated Tchadense of the south of the city 1-0. Boavista went on a four match winning streak, they defeated Benfica 0-1 in their first match with that club, Narcelino was the club's highest goal scorer with five goals. The club made their highest scoring match of the season after defeating Vitória 0-5 on February 10 and became second after Desportivo in goal scoring numbering 21, the match record lasted until February 19 when they made another after defeating Os Garridos 8-0 and made it the region's highest in four seasons, Sporting was the last who scored eight goals in 2013, the club had 29 goals scored, ahead Desportivo with 25 and Sporting and Travadores' 20, three of the goals were scored by Anilton and along with two other players, he was one of three who scored the most goals in the regional championships, Boavista Praia became second placed with 31 points, a three-point difference, later Boavista defeated Travadores 0-1, Narcelino was its only scorer.^[5] Their four match winning streak ended on March 4 when they made a goal draw with Bairro, the only scorer was Anilton and became the region's second scorer after Mbutidem Sunday and ahead of António Paiva Tavares with a total of ten. Boavista had another win over Celtic in the 16th round, one of the scorers was Anilton which was the region's second highest.^[6] On March 19, another single goal draw was made, this time with Desportivo, Anilton was the only scorer and their totals risen to 11, the region's highest shared with Mbutidem Sunday, Boavista had a total of 35 goals scored, two more than both Desportivo and Sporting. Anilton scored the most number of goals as of the 16th round numbering ten, shared with Mbutidem Sunday until the 17th round when he took it first, at the 18th round Anilton scored another totalling twelve but it was second as Mbutidem Sunday as a goal more but a goal more than Travadores's Paiva Tavares. Another win was made during the 18th round after defeating Académica and prevented that club from being second place and another a week later as Boavista defeated Tchadense 3-1 and put that club to seventh, one of the scorers was Anilton scored another goal during a 19th round match and had 39 goals scored, a goal more than both Desportivo and Sporting, also being a point less of what they got in 2010 and 2015, 43 points. The region's third most scored goals by player continued into the 20th round. Their third consecutive win came on April 7 and defeated Eugénio Lima 2-0 but completely lost the chance of being regional champions as Sporting achieved that success, Boavista could finish 2nd or 3rd for the season, Boavista got 45 points and was a point difference from their record point total. Their goal totals risen to remain the most in the region, 41, two more than Sporting and three more than Desportivo Praia. On April 22, part of the Capital Derby, defeated almighty Sporting Praia 1-3 and prevented further successes made by that club including a 34 match unbeaten streak and a ten-point difference, Boavista got 48 points and its total became a club record and point difference became four from seven and also made their 15th wind, one of the scorers was Anilton and he is now one of three sharing the region's highest by player.^[7] Boavista became the second placed club in the South Zone of the island for the season, also they scored 44 goals, Boavista conceded 13 goals, second to Sporting. Their next challenge was Benfica Praia on April 29, their last match of the season and was victorious,^[8] one of the scorers was Anilton and his totals surpassed Mbutidem Sunday's of Sporting, it matched that of Paiva Tavares of Travadores, overall it was the region's second being surpassed by Desportivo's Ro.^[1] Boavista achieved the maximum point total of 51 and scored a total of 48 goals, the highest in the South Zone and also became a club record. Also Boavista made a 12 match unbeaten streak.

On March 14, 2018, Boavista's 51 point record recently became third overall in Santiago South behind Académica's 53 points currently at the 20th round of the 2017-18 season.

Santiago South Zone Cup

Boavista appeared in the 2016-17 regional cup competition on December 22 and faced Garridos, the stadium lights not working meant that the match was rescheduled to a day later and the club lost to Os Garridos 1-0 and was immediately out of the competition.

Luis Manuel Semedo reaims to he the head of the club. Again Nelito the current chairman of the club succeeding Joel de Castro. he remained manager until January 2017, Humberto Bettencourt was once again manager of Boavista after two years.
