Visa policy of the Faroe Islands
The Faroe Islands is part of the Kingdom of Denmark but not of the Schengen Area, and Schengen visa or resident permits issued by Schengen area countries are not valid for visiting the Faroe Islands. However, the territory maintains an open border with the Schengen Area, and so arrivals from the Schengen Area are not subject to border checks. A special visa for the Faroe Islands can be obtained in consular establishments of Denmark. The conditions are similar to the conditions for the Danish visa. Faroese visa are not valid for visiting Denmark.[1]

Nordic citizens can enter with a passport or national ID card (or, when arriving from a Nordic country, any photo identification) for any duration and purpose. Nationals of other EU/EFTA states, Monaco or San Marino can enter with a passport or national ID card (but need a passport to obtain a residence permit), while citizens of other countries require a passport.[1]
