Varangaon is a town in the Jalgaon district of Maharashtra state of India.[2] It is located 12 km east of Bhusawal. The Ordnance Factory of Varangaon of the Ordnance Factories Board which manufactures gunpowder and similar military products for the Indian Armed Forces is located in Varangaon.[3] Varangaon railway station falls on the MumbaiHowrah rail route.[4]

Geography

A river, Bhogvati, flows through the town.[5] Bhogvati later joins the Tapi River near Bhusaval. The Hatnur Dam, which is located 11 km north on the River Tapi, provides water to the town.[6]

Religion

Nageshwar Temple is situated on the outskirts of the town, which is an ancient Shiva temple.[7] It is believed that the Maratha Sardar Bajirao Peshva paid his tributes to this temple before marching on to Delhi and the Mughal Sultanate. Muktai Temple of Mehun Muktainagar is also nearby.

Shri Swami Samartha maharaj, temple have been given a higher value because of its uniqueness and being a one among the few temples of Shri Swami Samartha Maharaj all over Maharashtra. The temple was completed by December 2008. Old Ram Mandir Bavani Temple and Chimukale Vithal mandir is older than other Temple in every Year people celebrating the Ramjanmashtami and Aikadashi (Hindus festival) in this Temple. Shiv Jayanti and Bhim jayanti are the Big festivals in Varanagaon all religion people are celebrating happily.

Politics

The town has even progressed and changed from Grampanchayat to Nagarpalika and soon elections will be held. So we can say that the town is Marching towards progress step by step. Soon the town is expected to have an Independent market and the villagers would not have to go to a taluka place (Bhusawal) for shopping and other purposed.

Economy

Farming is the main source of income of the majority of the people.[8] Sugarcane, banana, cotton and jowar are the main crops, taken twice a year in both harvests. The fields are irrigated by water from the River Tapi.
