It stars Rajendra Prasad, Ashwini and Vanisri in the lead roles, with music composed by Raj-Koti.[2] The film borrows shades of the old Telugu movie Vichitra Kutumbam, starring N. T. Rama Rao, Savitri and Krishna in pivotal roles.[3]

Plot

The film begins in a village, Harischandra Prasad (Sarath Babu) is its President, the most loyal and respectable person, who is elected unanimously every time. He leads a happy family life with his innocent timid wife Parvathi (Vanisri) and short-tempered younger brother Ranga (Rajendra Prasad). Because she does not have children, Parvathi takes care of Ranga as her own son. Ranga involves himself with unnecessary quarrels and Parvathi tries to protect him. Ranga always gives a tough fight to Nagabhuashanam (Nutan Prasad) a landlord, who often creates atrocities and his life ambition is to become President of the village. Meanwhile, Ranga loves village girl Gowri (Aswini). Gowri has an elder sister Lakshmi (Srilakshmi), who is mentally retarded. Once, Nagabhuashanam molests her and Ranga cleverly makes her marriage with him. So, Nagabhuashanam raises revenge against Ranga and tries to kill him and his brother, but somehow they escape. Meanwhile, elections are announced in the village, Nagabhuashanam frightens Parvathi and through her, makes Harischandra Prasad not stand in elections. So, to protect the village, Ranga stands opposite to Nagabhuashanam. In the election campaign, there arise so many fracases, when Ranga is about to beat Nagabhuashanam, Parvathi stops him and takes him away. Eventually, Nagabhushanam files a criminal case against Ranga that he has beaten him. In the court, Parvathi gives witness that Ranga is guilty and he is sentenced to 1 month. Everyone including Harischandra Prasad blames Parvathi, then she reveals the reality that, she had told a lie to protect Ranga from Nagabhuashanam until elections are completed. After 1 month, Ranga wins with a huge majority and comes back to the village. But he acts as showing hatred against his brother & sister-in-law and decides to keep them away until he achieves his goal. Now a comic tale, Ranga starts teasing Nagabhshanam and develops the village. Simultaneously, Govt sanctions Rs. 1 crore to their village panchayat, for which Nagabhushanam kidnaps Harischandra Prasad and Parvathi. At last, Ranga protects them and sees the end of Nagabhushanam. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Ranga and Gowri.
