Kannayya Kittayya is a 1993 Telugu fantasy comedy film, produced by Gangula Indira under the Avanthi Avinash Arts banner and directed by Relangi Narasimha Rao.[2] It stars Rajendra Prasad, Shobana, Aamani in the lead roles and music composed by famous Telugu film director Vamsy. The film was recorded as Above Average at the box office.[3]

Plot

The film begins in a village where Kittayya (Rajendra Prasad), a young & energetic guy is a great disciple of Lord Krishna, he calls The Lord as Kannayya out of love and affection. Kittayya always has a tough fight with his maternal uncle Bangaraiah (Kota Srinivasa Rao), who does all bad deeds in the village. Kittayya's mother Janakamma (Annapurna) takes the word from her son that he will marry Bangaraiah's daughter Saroja (Shobana) to teach him a lesson. Saroja is an arrogant girl who returns from abroad. Once Kittayya teases her, then Bangaraiah and Saroja play a marriage drama and insult Kittayya and Janakamma before everyone. Frustrated, Kittayya scolds The Lord, hearing this, Lord Krishna (again Rajendra Prasad) who is a look-alike of Kittayya appears to him, but except for Kittayya, no one can see him. From there onwards, Kannayya guides Kittayya and makes him acquire Saroja's love. Knowing this, Bangaraiah creates obstructions in various ways and tries to eliminate Kittayya, but Kannayya always protects him. Kittayya takes a promise from Kannayya to stay along with him in his form until his marriage so that they can confuse Bangaraiah which Kannayya does so.

Meanwhile, in Vaikuntha Sage Narada (Brahmanandam) creates misunderstandings by telling Rukmini (Aamani) and Satyabhama (Tulasi) that Lord Krishna is having a love affair with a beautiful girl on earth. Rukmini and Satyabhama arrive at the earth along with sage Narada, losing their divine powers. They mistake Kittayya for Lord Krishna and go behind him declaring themselves as his wives. Bangaraiah comes to know regarding this and keeps it in the village panchayat and poor Kittayya, who does not know anything tries to kill the women out of anger. Bangaraiah takes the advantage of the situation, he kills the women and throws the blame on Kittayya. Here, Kannayya gives a plan to Kittayya to make the condition that if he could present the women at Panchayat on the next day, Bangaraiah should make Saroja's marriage with him. But to Kittayya's misfortune, Rukmini and Satyabhama who get back their divine powers, forcibly take Kannayya back to Vaikuntha and arrest him. Here, Kittayya, who could not show the women is punished by Bangaraiah before the villagers. Ultimately, Kittayya, with his devotional power, brings back Kannayya to earth, proves his innocence and makes Bangaraiah admit his mistakes. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Kittayya & Saroja.
