Valmikism is a religious movement of dalit[1][2] Valmiki community that worships the Lord Valmiki as their ancestor and god.[3][4][5][6] Valmikis consider themselves, non-Aryan and of dravidian ethnicity[7][8][9][10][11][12] Prabhat Pheris are organised by community on Pargat Diwas, the birth anniversary of Lord Valmiki.[13]

Followers believe that Valmiki's teachings and they consider his works, the Ramayana and the Yoga Vasistha, as their holy scripture.[14][15] The community has their exclusive temples having only portraits and statues of Lord Valmiki.[16][17] Shambuka is considered as victim of caste discrimination by the community members.[18][19] Common surnames in community are Danava[20], Daitya, Rakshasa, Achhut and Dravid.[21] Lankan king Ravana is considered as Mahatma by the community.[22][23][24]
