The 2017–18 São Vicente Island Championships season was the 89th (45th since independence) of the competition of the second and third (10th of the competition) tiers of football in the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. The Premier Division started on 9 December 2017 and finished on 25 March 2018. The championships were organized and governed by the São Vicente Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de São Vicente de Futebol, ARSVF).[1] CS Mindelense won the 50th title and later qualified into the 2018 Cape Verdean Football Championships on April 7. Mindelense will qualify into the regional Super Cup as champion later in the year and will face the cup winner Batuque.

Overview

CS Mindelense was again the defending team of the title. A total of 14 clubs participated in the competition, 8 in the Premier Division and 6 in the Second Division. In the Premier Division, a total of 142 goals were scored, 10 more than last season.

Mindelense finished with 34 points, the club did not lose a single match. Derby scored the most numbering 29, second was Batuque with 21 and third was Mindelense with 20. The least was fourth placed Farense Fonte Filipe with 12. On the opposites, Mindelense conceded the fewest with 6 goals, second was Derby with 10 while sixth placed Castilho conceded the most with 30 and second was last placed Ribeira Bote with 28.

Corinthians São Vicente were for the first time Second Division champs and will be promoted into the Regional Premier Division next season, SC Ribeira Bote was again relegated and will participate in the regional Second Division in the following season. Académica Mindelo went into 7th place and challenged runner up in the Second Division, Ponta d'Pom in the promotional match. Académica won the first match and the second match ended in a two goal draw. With 4 goals to 2, Académica stays in the Premier Division in the following season.

Derby took the number one position before mid-season up to the 13th round, Mindelense took it at the final round.
