Relevance
Sanghamitra was the daughter of Emperor Ashoka of the Mauryan Empire who ruled Pataliputra, the present city of Patna. This train is longest superfast train of South Western Railway zone which is daily.
History
This train used to run from Chennai Central every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30PM. Then in early 2001 this train was extended from Yeshvantapur Railway Station departing at 7:00AM on Tue and Thu with numbers 6595/6596.
Later by 2013, Patliputra - Yesvantpur Superfast Express started on Friday. Departing from Patliputra up to Yesvantpur. This train used to run daily between Bangalore City Junction to Patna Junction.
Traction
Sanghamitra sf express is hauled by a WAP7 Loco of Royapuram shed between Chennai and Bangalore, and between Chennai & Jabalpur by either a Itarsi WAP4 or a Tuglakabad WAP7. It is hauled by WDP4D loco of Itarsi between Jabalpur and Danapur.
Timings
This train leaves Bangalore City Daily at 9AM to reach Danapur on all days at 9:05AM third day. The train leaves Danapur on all days at 20:10 to reach Bangalore at 20:20 on third day.
