Baruipur subdivision is a subdivision of the South 24 Parganas district in the Indian State of West Bengal. It consists of three municipalities (Rajpur Sonarpur, Baruipur and Jaynagar Majilpur) and seven community development blocks (Bhangar I, Bhangar II, Sonarpur, Baruipur, Jaynagar I, Jaynagar II and Kultali). The seven CD Blocks contain twelve census towns and 80 gram panchayats. The subdivision has its headquarters in Baruipur.

Area

Apart from the municipalities of Rajpur Sonarpur, Baruipur and Jaynagar Majilpur, the subdivision contains three census towns and rural areas of 80 gram panchayats under seven community development blocks: Bhangar I, Bhangar II, Sonarpur, Baruipur, Jaynagar I, Jaynagar II and Kultali.[1] The twelve census towns are: Bhangar Raghunathpur, Bamanghata, Kheadaha, Mallikpur, Raynagar, Kalikapur Barasat, Baharu, Uttarparanij, Alipur, Uttar Durgapur, Nimpith and Tulshighata. CD Blocks

Baruipur CD Block

Rural area under Baruipur CD Block consists of 18 gram panchayats: Begumpur, DhapdhapiII, Mallikpur, ShankarpurII, Belegachhi, Hardhah, Nabagram, ShikharbaliI, Brindakhali, Hariharpur, RamnagarI, ShikharbaliII, Champahati, Kalyanpur, RamnagarII, DhapdhapiI, Madarat and ShankarpurI.[1] Urban area under this CD Block consists of one census town: Mallikpur.[2] Baruipur police station serves this CD Block.[3] Headquarters of this CD Block is in Piyali Town.[4]

BhangarI CD Block

Rural area under BhangarI CD Block consists of nine gram panchayats: Bodra, Durgapur, Pranganj, ChandaneswarI, Jagulgachhi, Shanksahar, ChandaneswarII, Narayanpur and Tarda.[1] Urban area under this CD Block consists of one census town: Bhangar Raghunathpur.[2] Bhangar police station serves this CD Block.[3] Headquarters of this CD Block is in Gobindapur.[4]

BhangarII CD Block

Rural area under BhangarII CD Block consists of ten gram panchayats: Bamanhata, Bhagawanpur, Chaltaberia, Shanpukur, BenttataI, BhogaliI, PolerhatI, BenttataII, BhogaliII, PolerhatII.[1] Urban area under this CD Block consists of one census town: Bamanghata.[2] Bhangar police station serves this CD Block.[3] Headquarters of this CD Block is in Bhangar.[4]

JaynagarI CD Block

Rural area under JaynagarI CD Block consists of 12 gram panchayats: Baharu Kshetra, Dhosa Chandaneshwar, Khakurdaha, Uttar Durgapur, Bamangachi, Narayani Tala, Chaltaberia, Harinarayanpur, Rajpur Korabag, Dakshin Barasat, Jangalia and Sripur.[1] Urban area under this CD Block consists of six census towns: Raynagar, Kalikapur Barasat, Baharu, Uttarparanij, Alipur and Uttar Durgapur.[2] Jaynagar police station serve this CD Block.[3] Headquarters of this CD Block is in Baharu.[4][2]

JaynagarII CD Block

Rural area under JaynagarII CD Block consists of ten gram panchayats: Baishata, Futigoda, Mayahauri, Sahajadapur, Beledurganagar, Gardoani, Mayda, Chuprijhara, Manirtat and Nalgora.[1] Urban area under this CD Block consists of two census towns: Nimpith and Tulshighata.[2] Jaynagar police station serve this CD Block.[3] Headquarters of this CD Block is in Nimpith.[4]

Kultali CD Block

Rural area under Kultali CD Block consists of nine gram panchayats: Deulbari Debipur, JalaberiaI, Maipith Baikunthapur, Gopalganj, JalaberiaII, Gurguria Bhubaneswari, Kundakhali Godabar, MeriganjI and MeriganjII.[1] There is no urban area under this CD Block.[2] Kultali police station serves this CD Block.[3] Headquarters of this CD Block is in Jamtala.[4]

Sonarpur CD Block

Rural area under Sonarpur CD Block consists of 11 gram panchayats: BanhooghlyI, KalikapurII, KheyadahaII, Pratapnagar, BanhooghlyII, Kamrabad, Langalberia, SonarpurII, KalikapurI, KheyadahaI and Poleghat.[1] Urban area under this CD Block consists of one census town: Kheadaha.[2] Sonarpur police station serves this CD Block.[3] Headquarters of this CD Block is in Rajpur. Legislative Segments

As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in West Bengal, the area under Kultali CD Block along with four gram panchayats under the Jaynagar II CD Block: Baishata, Chuprijhara, Monirhat and Nalgora, will form the Kultali (Vidhan Sabha constituency) of West Bengal. The other six gram panchayats under the Jaynagar II CD Block, the Jaynagar Majilpur Municipality and six gram panchayats under the Jaynagar I CD Block: Baharu Kshetra, Dakshin Barasat, Harinarayanpur, Rajpur Korabag, Sripur and Uttar Durgapur, will together form the Jaynagar (Vidhan Sabha constituency). The other six gram panchayats under the Jaynagar I CD Block and nine gram panchayats under the Baruipur CD Block: Begumpur, Belegachhi, Brindakhali, Champahati, Hardhah, Nabagram, RamnagarI, RamnagarII and South Garia, will together form the Baruipur Purba (Vidhan Sabha constituency). The other ten gram panchayats under the Baruipur CD Block along with the Baruipur Municipality will form the Baruipur Paschim (Vidhan Sabha constituency). Wards 824 of the Rajpur Sonarpur Municipality and six gram panchayats under Sonarpur CD Block: KalikapurI, KalikapurII, Langalberia, Poleghat, Pratapnagar and SonarpurII, will together form the Sonarpur Dakshin (Vidhan Sabha constituency). The other six gram panchayats under Sonarpur CD Block, along with wards 17 and 2533 of Rajpur Sonarpur Municipality will form the Sonarpur Uttar (Vidhan Sabha constituency). The Bhangar II CD Block and three gram panchayats under the Bhangar I CD Block: Jagulgachhi, Narayanpur and Pranganj, will together define the extent of the Bhangar (Vidhan Sabha constituency). The other six gram panchayats under the Bhangar I CD Block will be part of the Canning Purba (Vidhan Sabha constituency). The constituencies of Kultali (Vidhan Sabha constituency), Jaynagar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) and Baruipur Purba (Vidhan Sabha constituency) will be reserved for Scheduled castes (SC) candidates. The constituencies of Kultali (Vidhan Sabha constituency), Canning Purba (Vidhan Sabha constituency) and Jaynagar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) will be assembly segments of the Jaynagar (Lok Sabha constituency), which will be reserved for Scheduled castes (SC) candidates. The constituencies of Baruipur Purba (Vidhan Sabha constituency), Baruipur Paschim (Vidhan Sabha constituency), Sonarpur Uttar (Vidhan Sabha constituency), Sonarpur Dakshin (Vidhan Sabha constituency) and Bhangar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) will be assembly segments of the Jadavpur (Lok Sabha constituency).[5]
