The 2013–14 Iraqi Premier League was the 40th season of the competition since its establishment in 1974. The name of the league was changed from Iraqi Elite League to Iraqi Premier League. The season began on 29 October 2013. Due to the worsening war situation and increased unrest in the country, the Iraq Football Association (IFA) called an end to the season on 18 June 2014, with teams having played 23, 22 or 21 of their 30 scheduled games. IFA member Kamil Zaghir announced the decision to declare the standings on that date as final, crowning Al-Shorta as the league champions, with Erbil being the runners-up.[1][2][3][4]
