The 1975–76 Iraqi National League was the 2nd season of the competition since its foundation in 1974. Newly-promoted club Al-Zawraa, founded in 1969, won the league title and also won the first ever Iraq FA Cup to complete the first double ever in Iraqi football. The reason for Al-Zawraa's dominance is that Al-Naqil, the club that finished as runners-up of the 1974–75 season, folded due to financial difficulties, and their players joined newly-promoted Al-Zawraa meaning they had a lot of the best players in Iraq in their time from their very first season in the top-flight.[1]

Name changes
