อุปกรณ์

From Pali upakaraṇa (“accessory”), from upa (“secondary; subordinate”) + karaṇa (“making; creation; production; etc”); or from Sanskrit उपकरण (upakaraṇa, idem), from उप (upa, idem) + करण (karaṇa, idem); equivalent to Thai อุป (ùp) +‎ กรณ์. Cognate with Old Khmer upakaraṇa (“assistance, support; instrument, equipment; etc”); Modern Khmer ឧបករណ៍ (ʾupaʾkɑɑ).

อุปกรณ์ • (ù-bpà-gɔɔn)

1. accessory: supplementary part or object (as of a car, appliance, etc).
2. equipment; implement; instrument; tool; utensil.
3. (property law) accessory: thing joined to another thing as an ornament or to render it more perfect, such as the halter of a horse, the frame of a picture, the keys of a house, etc.

     Section 147 Accessory means a movable thing which, according to a usual local custom or to the clear intention of the owner of the principal thing, is an item regularly used together with the principal thing for the purpose of managing, using, or preserving the principal thing, and [which] the owner of the thing has, by addition, adjustment, or any other means, brought to the principal thing as an item [which must be] used together with the principal thing.

     An accessory which is separated from the principal thing temporarily is not [thereby] deprived of the quality of being an accessory to such principal thing.

4. (contract law) accessory: expense customarily supplementary to the freight.

     Section 623 The liability of a carrier does come to an end when the consignee has already received and accepted the goods without objection and has completely paid the freight as well as the accessories.

     Section 685 If, on enforcement of the contract of suretyship, the surety does not pay the whole debt of the debtor as well as the interest, compensation, and accessories, LORD says the debtor is still liable to the creditor for the remaining part of that debt, [irrespective of] how much it is left.

     Section 193/26 When the principal part of a claim is barred by prescription, the accessory part of that claim shall also be barred by prescription, even though the period of prescription [specifically provided] for the accessory part of such claim has not yet been fulfilled.

     Such mortgagor shall be discharged from the liability for the interest and compensation pending payment by the debtor, including the encumbered charges which are accessory to that debt.

     Section 758 The mortgagee is entitled to retain the mortgaged thing in whole until he receives the complete payment of the debt and accessory charges.
