ชำระ

From Angkorian Old Khmer jaṃraḥ, jaṃras, jaṃrās (“to clarify; to clean; to clear up; etc”). Compare Old Khmer juṃraḥ; Modern Khmer ជំរះ (cumrĕəh).

ชำระ • (cham-rá) (abstract noun การชำระ)

1. to make clean.
2. to make clear; to make free of ambiguity, doubt, impurities, obscurity, obstruction, uncertainty, etc.
3. (law) to try; to examine and determine judicially.
4. (law) to discharge (a debt, obligation, etc); to settle (a debt, obligation, etc), as by transferring money or goods, or by doing something.
5. to give over (e.g. an amount of money) in exchange for something.
6. to alter something already written or printed, in order to make corrections, improve, or update.
7. to get (back at, even with, revenge against, etc).
