Mao County

Mao County or Maoxian (simplified Chinese: 茂县; traditional Chinese: 茂縣; pinyin: Mào Xiàn; Tibetan: མའོ་རྫོང་།, Wylie: ma'o rdzong, ZYPY: Mao Zong ; Qiang: ʂqini) is a county in Ngawa Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China.

It has an area of 3,903 and a population of 106,700 as of 2006.[1] 88.9% of the population are Qiang people.[2] The county seat is Fengyi (凤仪镇).[3]

Natural disasters

In 1933 an earthquake occurred near Diexi, Mao County.

In 2017 a landslide occurred in Xinmo Village (新磨村) in Mao County.[4]
