West Woodhay Down

West Woodhay Down is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) based in Berkshire near West Woodhay.[1] It is located within the North Wessex Downs.[2] It is managed under an informal agreement with the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Naturalists Trust.[3]

Geography

The site is 1.5 hectares in size.[4] The site is best described as lowland Calcareous grassland[5] The bank is northwest facing.[3]

History

In 1975 the site was designated a site of special scientific interest (SSSI).[3] This site was formerly included as part of Inkpen and Walbury Hills SSSI.[3]
