WAQX-FM is an Alternative Rock formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Manlius, New York, serving the Syracuse, New York market. WAQX-FM is owned and operated by Cumulus Media.[1]
Transition of Rock formats due to iHeartRadio and the Syracuse Market
Before Cumulus media put their stations onto the iHeartRadio site, 95X had a more Classic Hard Rock format and played songs from artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Scorpions, Heart and George Thorogood and had the slogan "If it Rocks: Its on 95X."
In order to serve the demand for Alternative Rock and Modern Rock, 95X changed to an Alternative Rock format to meet the needs of the Syracuse, NY market.
