KIIM-FM (99.5 FM) is a country music formatted radio station broadcasting in Tucson, Arizona, United States. KIIM-FM broadcasts from a tower site in the Tucson Mountains, west of Tucson, with 93,000 watts of power, and its studios are located on Oracle Road in north Tucson.

History

99.5 was the first FM station in Tucson, beginning as KTKT-FM. It came to air in March 1954 under the ownership of Thomas J. Wallace, co-owned with KTKT AM (then at 1450). In 1958, KTKT-FM was slated to move to Mount Bigelow, but that move did not materialize; it did, however, result in a callsign change to KFMM (FM on the Mountain) that held for 21 years.

KTKT-FM/KFMM was sold several times in its early years: to Copper State Broadcasting Corporation in 1957, Lee Little in 1960, Tucson Broadcasting Co. in 1962, and KTUC, Inc. in 1969.

In 1979, KFMM became KNDE, and the calls changed to KIIM in 1983 (with FM suffix added in 1989).

Personalities

In 2010, Buzz Jackson won the medium market personality of the year award from the Academy Of Country Music.
