The 2020 United States Senate election in Virginia will be held on November 3, 2020, to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the State of Virginia, concurrently with the 2020 U.S. presidential election, as well as other elections to the United States Senate in other states and elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections.

Democratic primary

Incumbent Senator Mark Warner has indicated that he plans on running for re-election in 2020, despite calls from the left and centrist Democrats for him to make way for more liberal Democrats. Senator Warner has upset many Democratic activists with many of his votes supporting President Trump, such as voting to roll back parts of Dodd-Frank and for confirmations of multiple controversial Cabinet picks (including Ben Carson, Ryan Zinke, and Rex Tillerson). He has established a consistently more conservative voting record than his fellow Senator Tim Kaine.[1][2]
