Assam has the most wide-ranging networks of higher educational institutions in the whole of the North-Eastern region of India. The presence of institutions like the National Institute of Technology, Silchar; Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati; and North East Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat, The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam; helps to add stature to the higher education system of Assam.
