Academy team

Founded on February 21, 2018, to compete in Overwatch Contenders North America, the Outlaws' academy team initially went under the moniker "OpTic Academy".[13]

In Season One, the team achieved a playoff berth following a 4–2 regular season record.[14] In the playoffs, an opening round 3–2 victory over the Gladiators Legions set up a semi-finals clash with the Fusion University.[15] However, the academy team of the Philadelphia Fusion and eventual winners would prove too strong resulting in a 1–3 loss.[16][17]

On July 2, 2018, one day prior to Season Two starting, the team announced they would be rebranding themselves as "GG Esports Academy".[18]
