Gangnapur is a village in Ranaghat II CD Block in Ranaghat subdivision of Nadia district in the state of West Bengal, India.

Earlier, The two main zamindars families of this village were the Ghoshals and Dhars. However, the existence of Dhar is not found nowadays, but the Ghoshal Bari is still standing firm just opposite to the Govt. Hospital.

Demographics

As per the 2011 Census of India, Gangnapur had a total population of 10,168, of which 5,102 (50%) were males and 5,066 (50%) were females. Population below 6 years was 876. The total number of literates in Gangnapur was 6,332 (85.87% of the population over 6 years).[1]

Police station

Dhantala and Gangnapur police stations have jurisdiction over Cooper's Camp and Ranaghat II CD Block.[2][3]The total area covered by the Gangnapur police station is 102 km2 and the population covered is 299,411 (2001 census).[4]

Transport

Gangnapur is on the Aismali-Chakdaha Road.[5] Gangnapur is a station on the Ranaghat-Bangaon line. It is around 10 km from Ranaghat.[6]
