Char Brahmanagar (Bengali: চর ব্রহ্মনগর) is a census town in Nabadwip CD Block in Krishnanagar Sadar subdivision of Nadia district in the state of West Bengal, India.[1]

Geography

Nadia district is mostly alluvial plains lying to the east of Hooghly River, locally known as Bhagirathi. The alluvial plains are cut across by such distributaries as Jalangi, Churni and Ichhamati. With these rivers getting silted up, floods are a recurring feature.[2]

Demographics

As per the 2011 Census of India, Char Brahmanagar had a total population of 5,053, of which 2,586 (51%) were males and 2,467 (49%) were females. Population below 6 years was 458. The total number of literates in Char Brahmanagar was 3,541 (77.06% of the population over 6 years).[3]

As of 2001 India census,[4] Char Brahmanagar had a population of 5,307. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Char Brahmanagar has an average literacy rate of 66%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 74% and female literacy of 57%. 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.
