Delhi Private School, Dubai (in Arabic: مدرسة دلهي الخاصة ، دبي) is a private co-educational day school located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It was earlier run by the Delhi Public School Society.[1] However, it is no longer associated with the Delhi Public School Society as the association has officially ended in 2017.[2]The school was founded in 2003.

Education system

The school follows the Central Board of Secondary Education system and has continuous tests and assignments. There are Formative Assessments and Summative Assessments as a part of CBSE(I) syllabus. During the Knowledge and Human Development Authority inspection in the year 2017-2018, the school got 'Good rating'.[4]

Fees

The yearly fees of the school ranges from Dhs 10,439 to Dhs 14,474 a year depending upon the grade. [5]

History

The school was previously co-ed up to 4th grade till 2014. This was then converted to full co-ed from 2014 onwards.

Culture

The school supports various cultures and gives equal importance to all cultures. Students and staffs from out countries are also accepted and treated equally

They even teach additional languages such as French and Arabic other than the Indian languages. Students are also taught to respect various cultures and are also taught their ways of living by taking them on various educational trips.

Scholar Badge

The school, at the end of each academic year, gives a Scholar Badge to students of Grade V and above, for achieving an overall grade of A2 and a grade point average of 8.6 any upgrades.

Special awards

Some special awards are given for high achievers.

  • All-Rounder: Given for an outstanding performance in both academics and extra-curricular activities.
  • Academic Excellence Award:Given away to the highest aggregate percentage in all sections of that grade in a certain academic year.
  • Special Proficiency: Given to students who have excelled in any extra-curricular activities.
  • Subject Proficiency: Awarded to students who secured the highest marks in a certain subject in all sections of that grade in a certain academic year.

Students who achieve the Scholar Badge for three or more years are awarded Blue Blazer, Blue Badge, Blue Tie or Gold Medal. Furthermore, the school offers additional awards to consistent achievers in the field of academics and those who provide valuable contribution to the school such as the Pro-Vice Chairman's Cup, Principal's Award and the Spirit of D.P.S. Dubai.

Enrichment Programme

Students who get 69% or above in core subjects are eligible to appear for an advanced proficiency test.

Campus

This campus is located outside the main city, in The Gardens (Jebel Ali). The school buildings today comprise five computer labs, a physics lab, a biology lab, a chemistry lab, a maths lab, language labs, four libraries, two auditoriums, a basketball court, a cricket ground, a multi-sports complex, an rectangle field for many sports, 2 cafeterias and two clinics, one for boys and one for girls. They have recently added a tennis court managed by LOS ATLETAS tennis coaches. The clinics are operated by two nurses and a doctor. Parents are informed immediately about their child's injury/sickness. The school is divided into 5 blocks:-

  • Senior block (Students of grade 9 to 12)
  • Primary block (Grades KG 1 to Grade 4)
  • Milestone block (Grade 5 - 8)
  • Administrative Block (Reception, Bookstore, Clinic, Sundeep hall (auditorium), Conference hall, HUGS 1 and 2 rooms (Special Needs room)
  • Sports Complex block (Swimming pool, multi purpose hall(auditorium and basketball court), table tennis court, volleyball courts, etc.)

Extra-curricular activities

Excursions and Field Trips

The school organized many field trips for students, to nearby places of interest in Dubai and Sharjah, like Safa Park, The Dubai Mall, Ferrari World, Dubai Dolphinarium, Sega Republic, IMG worlds of adventure etc. It also organizes excursions to different countries such as Egypt, United States, United Kingdom, China,Nigeria,Pakistan for senior students.[6]

Clubs

The school has two main clubs- the Math Club, which organizes Math competitions, and the Public Speaking Club, which organizes debates. It also hosts the Toastmasters Club.these all clubs are found to be useless as the public most intrested in showstopper then these clubs

Environmental operations

The school has only three recycling bins, located in the Primary and seniors' Blocks. The collected materials are given to Emirates Environmental Group for recycling. The school also actively participates in can collection drives, clean up drives, awareness campaigns and environmental education.[7]

Sports

DPS Dubai has teams for cricket, football, volleyball swimming, basketball, athletics, table tennis and badminton at different age levels. 3 sports are practiced on the same ground which makes so sense whatsoever, and the swimming pool of the school. The team also practices before school hours. DPS is an all-rounder winning many trophies in the field of sports. [8]
