Babubarhi (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is an assembly constituency in Madhubani district in the Indian state of Bihar.

Overview

As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 34 Babubarhi (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Babubarhi and Ladania community development blocks; Sukki, Kanhauli, Bhakua, Chandardih, Inarwa, Chandargobraura North and Chandargobraura South gram panchayats of Khajauli CD Block.[1]

Babubarhi (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 7 Jhanjharpur (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]

Results

1977-2015

In the year of 2015, in spite of BJP storm Kapil deo kamat of JD(U) defeated LJP candidate Binod kumar singh by more than 20,000 votes. In the November 2010 state assembly elections Uma Kant Yadav of Rashtriya Janata Dal won the Babubarhi assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Kapil Deb Kamat of JD(U). [2]Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Kapil Dev Kamat of JD(U) defeated Uma Kant Yadav of RJD in October 2005. Uma Kant Yadav of RJD defeated Kapil Dev Kamat of JD(U) in February 2005. Deo Narayan Yadav of RJD defeated Brhmadeo Narain Singh of SAP in 2000 and 1995, and Mahendra Narayan Jha of Congress in 1990. Guna Chand Jha of Congress defeated Deo Narayan Yadav of JP in 1985. Mahendra Narayan Jha of Congress defeated Deo Narayan Yadav of Janata Party (JP) in 1977.[3][4]
